Medan, December 19, 2025 - Danantara Indonesia, together with Badan Pengaturan Badan Usaha Milik Negara (State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Agency/BP BUMN), mobilized 1,066 volunteers and deployed 109 trucks to transport humanitarian aid to support emergency response and disaster recovery efforts in a number of affected areas, with Aceh as one of the early priority distribution center locations. The volunteers and aid fleet were sent off in a ceremony in Medan, North Sumatra, officiated by Dony Oskaria, Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia and Head of BP BUMN, as part of SOEs' consolidated support for Sumatra.
The aid was part of the initiative of BUMN Peduli, which serves as a forum for coordinating and synergizing contributions from SOEs in responding to emergency situations collectively. Through this program, state-owned enterprises deploy cross-sector volunteers, logistical support, and operational resources to ensure that the aid reaches affected communities quickly, accurately, and in accordance with needs on the ground.
The send-off ceremony coincided with National Defense Day, which is interpreted as a manifestation of the state's presence in the context of humanity. In his speech, Dony Oskaria stressed that the role SOEs play in disaster situations is part of their national responsibility as state-owned companies. "State-owned enterprises belong to the Indonesian people. Therefore, whenever the people need us, our presence is not an option but an obligation. Since the beginning of the disaster, we have emphasized that the presence of SOEs is not merely complementary but a form of responsibility as state-owned companies," said Dony Oskaria.
The distribution of initial aid was prioritized based on the results of needs mapping and in coordination with local governments and relevant agencies. Meanwhile, monitoring and the preparedness of SOEs in other affected areas continue to be carried out regularly to anticipate developments in the field.
As many as 1,066 SOE volunteers and 109 trucks delivered humanitarian aid to affected communities, including clothing, baby and children's supplies such as baby formula, diapers, and basic nutritional needs; clean water for daily use; daily staples; medicines; as well as communal tents, blankets, prayer items, and various other supplies needed in the affected areas.
As part of the post-disaster recovery phase, Danantara Indonesia and BP BUMN are also preparing further support, namely the construction of around 15,000 temporary housings in a number of affected locations. The construction of the temporary housing will be carried out in coordination with local governments and relevant agencies, prioritizing safety, livability, and the needs of communities.
On this occasion, Dony Oskaria expressed his appreciation to the volunteers and SOE employees who were directly involved in disaster management, as well as to SOEs that ensured basic services continued to run in the affected areas. "I am proud to see more than a thousand SOE employees willing to come forward as volunteers to help the affected communities. At the same time, I appreciate the hard work of the SOEs who continue to ensure that basic services remain operational for the community in the affected areas," he said.
Aid will continue to be distributed in coordination with local governments and relevant stakeholders to ensure that emergency response and post-disaster recovery efforts are orderly and sustainable.
Through this joint movement, Danantara Indonesia and BP BUMN come together to assist affected residents, ensure that basic needs are met, and help communities undergo a gradual recovery process.
Danantara Indonesia and BP BUMN will continue to coordinate efforts and collaboration among SOEs to ensure that disaster management and recovery efforts are carried out with empathy, sincerity, and care. For SOEs, serving the people is not merely a duty but part of the responsibility and dedication to their fellow citizens.
