Public solidarity was reflected through disaster relief donations collected during the People's Arts Program at three Independence Day cultural performance venues.
Jakarta, August 18, 2026 — The commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia became a moment to strengthen solidarity with communities affected by the disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Through the Kesenian Rakyat dalam Kebersamaan Kemerdekaan (People's Arts Program for Independence Solidarity), public enthusiasm was reflected not only in participation across three cultural performance venues, but also in donations made through QR codes available on site. Within a short time, public contributions reached Rp2,164,037,334, underscoring the strength of collective solidarity in supporting communities affected by the disaster. Danantara Indonesia and the broader SOE family, together with the Government, facilitated public participation as part of a broader effort to channel community concern into tangible assistance for those in need.
"This year's Independence Day momentum also serves as a reminder of the strength of gotong royong," said Rohan Hafas, Managing Director of Stakeholder Management, Danantara Indonesia. "Public participation in the People's Arts Program has translated into meaningful support for our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster in NTT."
Danantara Indonesia and SOEs Move in Coordination to Restore Essential Services
As part of SOEs' commitment to stand with communities during emergencies, Danantara Indonesia is coordinating a cross-SOE response to help meet basic needs on the ground. Coordination has been strengthened throughout the emergency response period, which local authorities have set to run until August 28, 2026, to ensure assistance reaches communities more effectively and remains aligned with the most urgent needs in affected areas.
In the initial phase, efforts have focused on restoring public services that form the backbone of the humanitarian response. A number of SOEs have moved swiftly to deploy personnel and equipment to support operations in the field. As of Monday (August 17), PLN, Indonesia's state electricity company, had restored power to around 88% of affected customers and recovered 98.3% of the electricity network disrupted by the earthquake, enabling essential services, public facilities, and relief distribution points to resume operations.
On the telecommunications front, Telkom Group has accelerated the restoration of telecommunications networks across affected locations to ensure coordination and access to information remain uninterrupted. Fuel supply and distribution have also been reinforced to support community mobility and the delivery of assistance. In parallel, a number of SOEs have distributed humanitarian assistance across the affected regencies, with support directed toward urgent community needs across priority locations.
Relief support continues to be mobilized alongside ongoing assessments on the ground, allowing assistance to be adjusted to evolving community needs, including food, clean water, medicines, evacuation supplies, and operational support for relief posts and public facilities. Volunteers will also be deployed, and disaster response posts will be reinforced at priority locations that serve as key community hubs, including in Sikka, Nagekeo, Ngada, Ende, and Manggarai Regencies.
Beyond immediate emergency response needs, Danantara Indonesia, together with SOEs, has begun collecting data on severely damaged homes to support the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction phase, in coordination with local governments and relevant stakeholders.
"The current focus is to ensure that the support mobilized can be distributed appropriately and in line with the most urgent needs on the ground," Rohan said. "At the same time, Danantara Indonesia, together with the SOE family, is also beginning to map the continued needs of affected communities, including possible support during the recovery phase and for the repair of damaged facilities or homes."
Through continued coordination during the emergency response period, Danantara Indonesia and the SOE family seek to ensure that all support mobilized is delivered effectively, directed to the right needs, and brings meaningful benefit to communities affected by the disaster in East Nusa Tenggara.
