State-Owned Enterprises Under Danantara Indonesia Mobilize Rapid Response to Sumatra Disaster

Jakarta, 28 November 2025 - Danantara Indonesia has expressed its deepest concern over the hydrometeorological disaster that struck several regions in Indonesia, including Sumatra, which has now been declared a disaster area following severe flash floods and landslides. Days of extreme rainfall have caused rivers to overflow, inundating residential areas and damaging critical infrastructure.

Official reports said at least 22 people have been killed and more than 20,700 people have been displaced after their homes were submerged or swept away. The scale of destruction demands a swift, coordinated, and multi-agency response.

Recognizing the urgency, Danantara Indonesia activated its emergency coordination network on the first day of the disaster, working closely with state-owned enterprises (SOEs) operating in affected areas. Rapid emergency measures were deployed to ensure communities received immediate assistance, at the same time safeguarding access to vital services. “We moved quickly from the onset to ensure basic needs were met, critical access was restored, and early recovery could begin without delay,” Rohan Hafas, Managing Director of Stakeholders Management at Danantara Indonesia, said on Friday (28/11/2025).

On the ground, several SOEs under Danantara’s management or operational control have taken direct, immediate action. Volunteer teams were deployed to support the evacuation of residents from isolated areas, while logistics units transported food aid, clean water, essential items, and medical supplies to evacuation centers. In regions where landslides destroyed roads, companies with technical capabilities and heavy equipment helped clear debris to reopen transportation routes to ensure a smooth uninterrupted delivery of relief supplies. Restoring mobile communication networks and electricity supply has also been prioritized to ensure seamless coordination among responders.

In West Sumatra, SOEs such as Pegadaian, Semen Padang, BNI, Hutama Karya, Angkasa Pura, PLN, and Pertamina mobilized humanitarian support from day one. The emergency relief included food, drinking water, essential medicines, clothing, baby diapers, kitchen supplies, and emergency tents for displaced families. Inflatable boats and excavators were also deployed to support rescue efforts and reopen routes blocked by flooding or landslides. These collective contributions ensured that essential needs were met quickly and at the same time accelerating the restoration of logistics channels.

In North Sumatra, Pegadaian, BRI, BNI, Inalum, Angkasa Pura, BTN, KIM, Pertamina, and PTPN simultaneously distributed humanitarian aid across affected areas. Emergency reliefprovided included food aid, clean water, medicines, clothing, cooking utensils, and baby diapers for families with young children. Inflatable boats were deployed to and temporary shelters were prepared for people trapped in areas isolated by floods while fuel supplies for heavy equipment were provided to expedite road clearance and support technical operations on site. This coordinated SOE effort strengthened the initial emergency response and helped stabilize conditions in the crucial first days after the disaster or in the first 72 hours after the disaster.

“With swift actions during the emergency response phase and a clear, structured recovery plan, Danantara Indonesia and its SOE network seek to ensure that people can return to normal as quickly as possible,” Rohan added. This approach underscored Danantara Indonesia’s role as a national catalyst, not only in business management and investment but also in long-term national reconstruction with tangible impacts.
