Jakarta, 31 March 2026 - Danantara Indonesia announced its investment in a strategic project in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, aimed at boosting Indonesia's growing tourism sector and generating opportunities for the local economy. The development is expected to significantly enhance Indonesia's appeal as a world-class tourism hub, generating long-term value and opportunities for the local economy in the eastern part of Indonesia.
The investment is a greenfield development project. Labuan Bajo plays a strategic role in Indonesia's tourism ambitions, acting as a gateway to Flores and the Komodo National Park - considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The initiative is designed to create meaningful economic impact in the area by creating job opportunities during both construction and operational phases, increasing international and domestic tourist arrivals, and supporting the growth of local businesses. Situated in one of Indonesia's most coveted islands, the investment will help promote Indonesia's natural wonders and cultural richness, reinforcing the country's position as a leading tourism destination.
As part of this investment, Danantara Indonesia will work closely with Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), an existing investor in the project, to deliver long-term value and further support Indonesia's development priorities.
Pandu Sjahrir, Chief Investment Officer of Danantara Indonesia, reinforced that today's announcement is a clear demonstration of Danantara Indonesia's disciplined investment approach and commitment to delivering both financial returns and strategic impact.
"We are delighted to announce this investment and look forward to working closely with QIA on this project to unlock Indonesia's long-term potential, including in Eastern Indonesia, particularly East Nusa Tenggara. This initial project sets the foundation for a broader pipeline of investments that aim to generate sustainable returns, while consistently opening new socioeconomic opportunities for Indonesia," Pandu adds.
Danantara Indonesia remains steadfast in its mandate to invest with discipline and contribute meaningfully to Indonesia's long-term economic growth. Completion of the investment is subject to the satisfaction of applicable conditions and compliance with relevant policies.
