Danantara Indonesia CIO Pandu Sjahrir Meets with Global Financial Leaders

Los Angeles, 6 May 2025 — Danantara Indonesia's Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Sjahrir, met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and former U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Monday, 5 May 2025, as well as several senior leaders from global financial institutions.

The meetings were held on the sidelines of the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, United States, on Monday (5 May 2025). The original text shows "5/5/2055," which appears to be a typographical error.

During his meeting with Pandu Sjahrir, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent conveyed a positive outlook on Indonesia. He stated that investment can serve as a solution to further strengthen relations between the United States and Indonesia going forward.

In a separate engagement, former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin conveyed a similar view.

Both leaders emphasized the potential for strengthening US–Indonesia relations through increased investment across multiple sectors. Key strategic areas identified for the future bilateral partnership include energy security, upstream energy and refining, and digital infrastructure.

Pandu Sjahrir noted that these discussions, particularly with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, were an important opportunity to explore strategic investment prospects between Indonesia and the United States and to strengthen bilateral relations in the period ahead.

Regarding the Milken Institute's annual Global Conference, Pandu Sjahrir participated as a speaker on a panel titled "Investing in a Shifting Economic Climate: The Asia Pacific Outlook."

Also joining the Indonesian delegation at the Milken Institute Global Conference 2025 were Managing Director of Finance Djamal Attamimi, Managing Director of Risk and Sustainability Lieng-Seng Ween, and Special Staff for Global Partnerships and Digital Education at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Raline Shah.

This year, the Milken Institute Global Conference 2025 carries the theme "Towards a Flourishing Future."
