More Than 1,000 Volunteers Deployed to Support Disaster-Affected Communities in Sumatra

Danantara Indonesia, together with BP BUMN, has mobilized 1,066 volunteers and 109 trucks to deliver humanitarian assistance to communities affected by disasters across Sumatra, with Aceh among the first priority distribution areas.

The deployment was marked by a send-off ceremony in Medan, North Sumatra (19/12), led by Dony Oskaria, Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia and Head of BP BUMN. The initiative forms part of BUMN Peduli, a collective movement through which state-owned enterprises work together to respond quickly and compassionately in times of crisis.

Volunteers and logistics teams are distributing essential aid, including food supplies, clean water, clothing, medicines, baby and child necessities, as well as communal items such as tents, blankets, and prayer equipments, helping families meet their most urgent needs during this difficult period.

Beyond emergency relief, Danantara Indonesia and BP BUMN are also preparing support for the recovery phase, including plans to build around 15,000 temporary housing units in affected areas, in coordination with local governments and relevant authorities.

Aid distribution will continue in stages to ensure support reaches those who need it most. Through this joint effort, Danantara Indonesia and BP BUMN stand alongside affected communities, offering not only assistance, but solidarity, care, and hope as families begin the path toward recovery.
