State-Owned Enterprises Under Danantara Indonesia Strengthen Coordinated Response to Disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra

Danantara Indonesia expresses its deepest concern over the severe hydrometeorological disasters affecting Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, all currently under emergency status. Days of intense rainfall have triggered flash floods and landslides, impacting thousands of families and disrupting critical infrastructure. Given the scale of the situation, a rapid, well-coordinated response backed by close collaboration among key stakeholders remains essential.

In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, Danantara Indonesia activated its cross-SOE emergency coordination mechanism to deliver an integrated operational, logistical, and technical response. Alignment among SOEs began on the first day of the crisis to accelerate aid deployment and ensure that support reached affected communities swiftly. “We mobilized from the very beginning to ensure basic needs are met, critical access is restored, and recovery can begin without delay,” said Rohan Hafas, Managing Director of Stakeholders Management at Danantara Indonesia, Friday (28/11/2025).

Integrated Emergency Measures Across Three Provinces

Emergency operations have focused on evacuating impacted residents, distributing essential aid, and restoring basic infrastructure. SOE volunteer teams were deployed to isolated or severely affected zones—using inflatable boats in flooded regions and assisting families in areas at high risk of landslides.

Logistics support was dispatched in coordinated phases to Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, including ready-to-eat meals, clean water, essential medicines, clothing, hygiene supplies, baby essentials, cooking equipment, and temporary shelters. Technical assistance was also mobilized: heavy machinery worked to remove landslide debris, clear blocked routes, and reopen transport corridors to ensure aid could reach more communities.

Electricity and telecommunications restoration were treated as urgent priorities to maintain communication among responders and to enable uninterrupted field operations.

Multi-SOE Collaboration to Stabilize Early Recovery

A broad network of SOEs under Danantara Indonesia — including Pegadaian, BRI, BNI, BTN, Semen Padang, Inalum, PTPN, Hutama Karya, KIM, Angkasa Pura, PLN, and Pertamina — contributed based on their respective mandates and capabilities. Support ranged from logistics and shelter facilities to emergency transportation, fuel for heavy equipment, and technical expertise in energy and communications.

This collective, multi-SOE approach strengthened early stabilization efforts and ensured that recovery actions could progress with speed and clarity during the critical first days.

Rohan Hafas emphasized that Danantara’s commitment goes beyond short-term relief. “Through rapid action during the emergency phase and a well-directed recovery plan, Danantara Indonesia and the SOE network aim to help communities in the affected regions return to normalcy as soon as possible,” he said. This underscores Danantara’s broader role—not only as an investment manager, but also as a driver of sustainable national reconstruction and resilience.
